Most of Queensland’s rail network, including Brisbane’s suburban lines and the state’s heavy-haul coal lines, runs on narrow gauge track. We make rail gauges in our Newcastle, NSW workshop for rail projects and maintenance crews in Brisbane and across Queensland, set to the track they will be used on.
Gauges for Queensland track
- Narrow gauge (1067 mm): Brisbane’s suburban network, most Queensland passenger and freight lines, and the central Queensland coal networks
- Standard gauge (1435 mm): the interstate line between Brisbane and Sydney, and light rail
- Custom settings: dual gauge sections, sidings, ports and industrial track
Our rail gauge range
Track gauges
Check the distance between the running rails during construction, resleepering, tamping and routine inspection.
Flangeway and check gauges
Verify flangeway widths and check rail clearances at turnouts and crossings, where wheel–rail interaction matters most.
Rail profile gauges
Measure railhead wear and shape on heavily loaded track, so you can plan grinding or rail replacement.
Custom gauges
Mine sites, ports and industrial sidings often use rail sections that off-the-shelf gauges do not fit. We design and machine gauges to suit your exact rail section and the checks your crews need.
Built for site conditions
Queensland track work means heat, dust and rough handling. We machine our gauges from high-grade, corrosion-resistant materials on CNC equipment so they hold their accuracy in the field, and each gauge can be supplied with a traceable calibration certificate.
See our gauges page for the full range, including machining gauges.
